#747, The Two You's
There are two people living inside all of us. Strong; rock, disciplined, confident, positive, faithful, big dream, mostly good, God loving, easy going, committed, kind, defending, good morning, great to see you today, one you in you, new creation, Potential, dreams, spiritual faith modifies the worldly desires and wishes, temptations are not ruling me. Doing right things even not feeling comfortable.
Weak; insecure, compromising, rude you, compromising you, negative, discouraged, discourteous, denying, flesh, say what you feel, holding grudges, good to feed the flesh with no results,
These are contradictions, inconsistencies. But if someone pushes the wrong buttons; rude, harsh; hidden you comes out. Has been hidden for long time.
Battle constantly taking place between two Us. Hidden good nature and redeemed new nature.
Old man get dead but it got resurrected.
Materialistic living will kill you.Your dreams, potential, relationships will die. Can't say what you feel, holding grudges. Apparently it would look good but with not good results. You wouldn't be going where you supposed to be.
Spirituality helps you to modify the worldly temptations.
Keep doing right things will help to keep down the temptations.
Discipline looks unkind but it harvest the great as a result.
Walk away when someone insult you, instead of insulting him back.
Stay at home and study for exam when friends are calling outside for having a fun.
Comfort all the time won't help to grow.
Great to see you today; Can't stand to see you.
Having talent, having everything but not getting any results; most of the time is result of letting old man backing up.
They are not disciplined to do right things when it is hard. We have to be consistent.
Some people say; they die daily. We can deal with our temptations on daily basis. We have to say 'NO' to things, no comments, no, I am not going to watch that, no, I cannot hang with that friend, he asked me to compromise.
We have to tell our temptations; we are going to eat everything. Now any unwanted food smell is not going to attract me. Following the temptation and then praying God help you to take away the calories is not going to work.
Quit telling yourself, I can't control my temper. I can't break this addiction. I can't keep my eyes on right things.
It shows that your right man is not very strong. Feed him so that he can grow.
Following temptation is feeding the wrong you and controlling you as a result.
Impatient, offended, losing temper; is feeding the negative.
Favour yourself; stop feeding that old, dead, negative man. Start starving the temptations, offence, negative; making them weaker.
Stop saying, I can't discipline myself.
God works in you, to foster righteousness in you. God is giving you desire to obey Him. He is bigger than any temptation, stronghold.
Thanks God, I have the power to do what's right. The forces which are for me are greater than the forces which are against me. Get your mind go into the right direction. That's the first step to the victory.
Nabal was a rich man. David was security guard for him. One day David sent his people to get some food from Nabal. Nabal was very rude and refused. His wife, very wise and beautiful, understanding the situation, supplied enough food to David and his people and also apologised for forgiveness. Ten days later, Nabal died. Abigail received the message to marry David.
Nabal is symbolic of our old nature. Hot temper, rude, addictions, fool. As long as old man is alive, you cannot meet the new man.
Old man that lives in you; the bitterness, the bad attitude, the compromise. Don't let the same issues keep you seeing from the new man. The same unforgiveness, the same hot temper, the same addictions; hold you back for the next 20 years. You have the grace to overcome. The temptation may be strong. God's grace is much more. His enabling power is greater than anything that is trying to stop you.
This is interesting that Nabal died 10 days after Abigail did the right thing. When you dig your heels in and do the right thing, when it's hard. There would be times, like with her, you will come in your 10th day, when something suddenly breaks. That addiction doesn't have the power over you like it did. That bad attitude, that bad temper, it may not totally go away but it doesn't control you anymore.
Now wonder, how much higher, we would go. How much more of God's favor we would see if we would get rid of old man. If we would start saying no to things that we know holding us back. Sometimes a little thing can keep you from a big blessing; a little bitterness, a little compromise.
You will see some friends saying; I'm always hot temper. No, it's time to get rid of nay boy. Can I tell you; nobody likes him, nobody wants to be around him.
You might put the old man back in the grave. We don't want to walk in dead you, we want the new you, the pretty you, the redeem you, the blessed you, the confident you, the victorious you.
David had to defeat his personal enemies before God could trust him with Goliath. Goliath in one sense was not only David's enemy, that was God's enemy.
Goliath was sent to establish the Isralites to show the Palestinians that God was on Isralites' side. When David was out on the shepherd's fields alone, when nobody was watching, he killed the lion and beer, those was his personal enemies. He could have been slack off, nobody can see me if I lose a sheep or two, is no big deal. But David was a person of excellence. He did the right thing when nobody was watching because he was faithful to defeat his personal enemies. God was able to promote him and trust him with more.
If you do like David, and start defeating the things that nobody knows about that. May not be a sin, it may be a small thing, it just keeping you from your best; sour attitude, being jealous of a friend, shown up late to work; are your personal enemies, you are not dealing with. One can say, everybody can deal with something. No, if you dealing with those small things, they are holding you back, God will release the big things, they belong to you. Sometimes, we are waiting for the temptation to go away, we think, we don't have desire anymore. There are times that it happens. But most of the time, the temptations still be there. The old man will get back again and again. But God is giving you the Grace to overcome.
I'm a goal oriented person, very focused; my personality type but when I go to the grocery store; I'm impatient, I get in, get out, I'm impatient. 16 00
